Joseph Nola is an active freelance
percussionist and educator in the tri state area specializing in orchestral
percussion, marimba, and drum set. His foundation in percussion derived
under the tutelage of David Fein at The Juillard Pre-College. He completed
his Pre-College Degree from The Juilliard School where he also studied
with Yamaha Performing Artist Simon Boyar.
Performing with the New York Youth Symphony, The Juilliard Orchestras,
and various chamber ensembles, Joseph started compiling and compelling
a list of solo, chamber, and orchestral performances. Rounding out his
craft in high school, he also worked for the Shawnee Playhouse and local
art organizations playing a variety of musicals with professional musicians
and actors. Joseph went on to The Juilliard School in New York City,
where he received his Bachelors degree under the tutelage of Gordon
Gottlieb.
Since he arrived at Juilliard, Joseph has had the opportunity to perform
at many venues around the world from New York's Carnegie Hall to the
newly built National Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall in
Beijing. He has performed with the percussionists of the St. Louis Symphony,
toured in China with the Juilliard Orchestra, and participated in the
Live from Lincoln Center "Lincoln Center Special: A Gala Night
at Alice Tully Hall" broadcast on PBS. Currently, he directs a
private studio, freelances, and is a substitute/extra with the New Jersey
Symphony Orchestra.
